The Company
MD1 Technology is a British Engineering Company that designs, develops and manufactures Electronic Countermeasure (ECM) products.
As a consultancy, MD1 provides ECM waveform design, test and assurance services to users of any ECM equipment, and we are specialists in next-generation CEMA waveforms and techniques. The MD1 team has decades of experience designing Electronic Warfare (EW) and Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) technology for various end-users. The name MD1 is inspired by Ministry of Defence 1, also known as Winston Churchill’s “Toyshop”; a research organisation during the Second World War that developed novel devices such as the limpet mine and the pencil detonator.

The minimalistic approach removes all the unnecessary detail and focuses on the essential aspects. Here at MD1, we use this design philosophy in all aspects of our work, ensuring that we find the essence of each product, waveform or technique that we design to provide the end user with the highest level of protection.
Trust
All lifesaving technology should be designed with quality in mind, especially for ECM, as the end-users must be able to trust that the ECM waveform or technique will provide them with consistent and predictable performance. At MD1, all of our products are designed and manufactured in the UK, with extensive health monitoring built into each system to provide the user with complete confidence. All waveforms and techniques undergo a rigorous assurance process, including hardware-in-the-loop testing at the laboratory against a mix of genuine target devices and empirical testing to account for real-world effects.
Courage
Courage and service demand the utmost respect and the highest quality level of equipment.The company directors have been working at the forefront of ECM in many different roles, varying from the original equipment designer to being the end-user in real-world EOD situations. They have a personal investment in the ECM and EOD equipment user community, which enables MD1 to understand ECM user requirements and operating procedures.

Richard Webb (MEng)Founder and Technical Director
A passionate technologist and engineer, Richard has previously worked for major ECM manufacturers in the UK where he has led teams developing software for multiple ECM equipment programmes. At MD1, Richard has a clear vision for the future of the company and is driving the agenda for next generation CEMA techniques and ECM waveforms.
Liam Fitzgerald-Finch (QGM BSc) Training and Business Development Director
A dynamic and highly accomplished former British Army Officer, Liam has proven experience as Counter-IED specialist, exploitation officer and engineer in multiple theatres of operation. At MD1, Liam excels at providing a real-world view of technology from the perspective of an Ammunition Technical Officer, and is regularly travelling overseas to deliver ECM training and support.
Sherry MooreQuality Manager and Business Systems Administrator
A proficient senior account manager and project manager, Sherry has a prior experience in the print and marketing sector. At MD1, Sherry ensures the team is following ISO9001 processes to ensure high quality in our products and services, and she is essential to building relationships within the team and between customers and suppliers.
Pawel Dziegel BEng (Hons)Advanced Electronics Engineer
A diligent engineer with experience in practical electronics design, prototyping, and troubleshooting electronics and firmware. Tasked with overseeing our test strategy, Pawel facilitates the manufacture, testing and ongoing development of MD1 products.
